During the pandemic elopements became super popular for me. They were quickly my most inquired service. And in SoCal while there are many beaches to elope at, it doesn’t get any better than Malibu. If you take a look through some of my past intimate weddings you’ll see that I mainly shoot elopements IN Malibu. Whether it’s at an AirBnB, Point Dume, or El Matador.. This is definitely the hot spot to elope near Los Angeles.
This couple got ready at the Malibu Country Inn. This stay is not too far from Point Dume, and is the perfect getting ready spot for an elopement! It was a cute inn where they were able to have their family stay with them as well in different rooms. The property isn’t too big, but it definitely worked for this intimate wedding. The bride and groom got ready in different rooms, and each one of them had one of their children with them to get ready. The kids were so excited to see mom and dad get married!
Before leaving to Point Dume, the bride and her father did a real quick father-daughter first look and it was so sweet. There was a small space outside the bride’s room that had vines and bougainvillea and it made for the perfect backdrop. Finally, everyone was ready to head over to Point Dume for the elopement!
Parking at this location is rough, there’s only about 6 parking spots unless you park down by the main beach and walk all the way up the trail. I usually recommend getting there 30 minutes to 1 hour early in order to wait for a spot to open, or park far enough and walk over.
Once we made it to the top of the hill it was SOOOO windy. You never know what weather you’ll end up with at this location, and you can see from the photos that we were given no mercy! Their ceremony was short and sweet and we quickly moved on to family photos and wedding portraits to get everyone back in their warm cars and on the way to reception.
Reception was at the one and only Mastro’s steak house. My couple got a private room for everyone to enjoy a lavish dinner, and the bride’s father shared a few words. It was the best way to end the night!
