There’s something really special about getting to photograph the same couple through different chapters of their lives. Two years ago, I photographed Olivia and Jared’s elopement, so when Olivia reached out for maternity photos, I was genuinely so honored. These rose garden maternity photos at Exposition Park felt like the perfect way to celebrate Olivia and Jared’s next chapter together. And somehow, despite this being a pretty last-minute inquiry, we were able to make a session happen that same week!

Originally, we planned for a different day. But Southern California weather had other plans, with overcast skies and predicted showers. We ended up swapping dates at the last minute, and honestly… it worked out perfectly. The sunset light ended up being absolutely perfect. The roses throughout Exposition Park were fully in bloom.es.

Olivia wanted the session to feel editorial while still staying relaxed and natural. Capturing her belly was especially important to her, so we focused on movement, soft posing, and moments that highlighted this season of life in an authentic way. She brought two relaxed, effortless outfits that photographed beautifully against all of the spring florals and golden light.

The rose garden ended up being the perfect backdrop for the vibe they envisioned. Between the fountains, blooming pink roses, and soft sunset glow, every part of this session felt romantic in the most effortless way. We spent the evening wandering through the garden. We stopped whenever the light hit perfectly and had so much fun together.

One of my favorite things about maternity sessions is finding the balance between documenting this huge milestone while still making the images feel like you. Not overly stiff, not overly posed, just elevated and intentional while still feeling real. These rose garden maternity photos perfectly captured such an exciting season of life for Olivia and Jared.
